Phenomenal Heart

hasn’t the glass-shaped heart
been shattered to pieces – enough?
this world,
leaving a splintering effect,
sliver by sliver
pick up each piece
dousing guerrilla glue
so daintily upon each slice
keeping its phenomenon intact-
immersed in fluttering blankets of butterflies

For your entertainment here are some tunes I am listening to this morning. When I make a mix tape it’s a true mix. 😉 I will leave with eight ~8~ a lovely number.

  3. Loved the music choices too! 😉

  4. David Eric Cummins says:

I love The Velvet Underground, and that is my favorite Pixies song too! The songs gave me a whole different perspective on the poem. Great write! 🙂

  5. Lovely! Just lovely like your beautiful words that move me. 🙂

  6. i love this poem, and the music as well…Imagine Dragons’, Amsterdam and The River are in my headphones 24/7 these days, ty.

    • Yay! That is awesome to hear! I have been stuck on Imagine Dragons for several months, I really love the emotions they pull out of me and the imaginations. 🙂

      • got to thank my 13 year old daughter for the share, she went to her first Lolla here in Chicago and they were incredible. the most recent bonus track cd is one that you can just press play and listen right to the last song!

and yes, the very first chord i heard them play my heart started to stir, i’ve already got a poem in mind for Amsterdam.

so glad to meet another enthusiastic lover of the Dragons!

      • Aaaaa! I wanted to go to Lolla! I was so bummed there were many of my favorites there. I watched Dragons live at Lolla on youtube. I wanted to see Mumford & Sons and The National too. Alas, being a mom with responsibilities and no funds (age no longer matters at those types of things. ;-)) I could not partake. Hee hee

      • …oh, i do understand about the responsibilities and lack of funds..we all chipped in, and i give my ex a lot of credit ’cause they stayed until Lana closed the show at midnight…. Smith Westerns were there, and i’m beginning to like them a lot too….maybe it’s just me but there seems to be an explosion of new bands that have captured my attention……do you listen to Local Natives?

      • That is great that everyone chipped in she could experience that and be safe. 🙂 I think there is an explosion as well, I have many that are pulling me in lately. Local Natives, YES! This poem was inspired by their song “Sun Hands” https://mindretrofit7.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/common-ground/

  7. your poem is the epitome of their music, to these ears!
here is my fav song and live performance by them…
please watch it through to the end, the reactions are just priceless!

    who knows, who cares
