familiarity
i spoke of you as home,
home, a house of pain,
all i knew of love,
an abode familiar in every way,
silent, distant, cold,
origins of affections –
a dwelling full of dread;
tears of angst,
leaving its legacy,
a trail into your soul,
i said you were my home,
i bound my heart within your bones,
clasped inside your chest,
suffering for a safe haven,
my residency secure,
the only house i’d known,
tucked away in agony,
believing i wasn’t alone –
if two could beat in unison,
i awakened in a den,
quieted, a single rhythm,
vacancy pounded upon the walls,
you were never my home,
familiarity is deceptive
sonnet like rendition… I enjoyed the word-play immensely! It brought cohesiveness to the panoply of thought and feeling generated from the poem… thank you!
Thank you S.C. your comment means a lot to me. Much appreciated!
🙂 absolutely!
Once we find home within ourselves no one can ever foreclose on our soul.. But we can still try to help homeless ones find their dear heart and soul to once again or first share their spirit with others and yes! Good! to see you on that path!
Oh, katiemia I think I may be a hopeless wanderer who finds home and then, drifts off to other random places of solace and comfort. Though, I have found some true peace within these bones with certain things. 🙂 As always, thank you for your comments!
Not so bad..the hopeless wanderer..in terms of Mumford Sons..smiles and have a great day..AMR..:)!
