Verbal Stones
stones, stones!
rail against bones,
thrust into (two) –
crushed heart; left to bleed,
bleed, bleed silently,
invisible voice, trampled deeply
thrash, crash –
among such rocks,
unable to count,
so many throngs, spines burst
ripped in threads –
gravel scars left a Spirit –
dead
what of the times,
forced, pummeled! down,
pounded flesh, only a verbal sound
tore wide the cavity within a chest,
left scarred, ridiculed – shamed,
clawed and seared eternal pain
stole souls,
life
need
wants
passions
validity
cannot count those raging stones,
broken hearts,
devoured bones,
they bit, bruised, ravished sight
left the lonely, in death’s grip – tight
one by one heaved and thrown,
rawhide tongues,
from this way and that
invisibly!
daggered pieces tattooed
shaking flesh
blistered wounds that no one can (could) see
torment, torment!
sticks clamp, clomp, clamor
stones, stones!
rail against bones,
thrust into (two) –
crushed heart; left to bleed,
bleed, bleed silently,
invisible voice, trampled deeply

yeah…i know the feeling..gone and visited again..but gone for good..
i insist NOW
and yeah..it hurt…..
Yes, katiemia, gone … the words come back and hit a nerve then, they vanish again – they no longer lay claim here. 🙂
nice play on sticks and stones…and they do hurt you know, no matter what we say…hopefully we live through it and that voice does not have to stay silent, you know….
Thank you Brian! They do hurt – calling them out seems to help quite a bit.
Love the clear, direct words and rhythm- great job.
Thank you Kimberly!
