Dichotomy of Winter

Dichotomy of Winter

paralyzed by Winter’s kiss;
prickly icicles lick up my spine –
a trail of dewdrops, cleverly sear
this warmed, cold body
lost among the fall leaves
while Winter’s time whispers in my ear,
drenched in snowflake’s playful grasp,
colors fade to white –
lung’s inhale, scratchy brisk air,
Winter’s calling, its voice fills this core –
trembling and comfort
dread and cheer
