Dangling Promise

Dangling Promise

crystalique; embroidered tale,
a promise had been sworn,
a liturgy –

the masterpiece to give
a broken soul,
a commitment
[for the first time]

whisking pledge, hanging force,
to keep the Love alive;
sinking with passing time
in hourglass drifting seasons

falling through
crashing at bottom’s frame –

spreading granules, engulfed;
a story never to be told
glimmering hope[never dies]
hanging on the dangling promise,
your story, shiny – cold

the promise, the promise,
glamorous tease;
your promise, the promise
you’d write –
never leave …
IT shines so brightly,
swallowed in blackened,
crystalline disillusions –
dangling above me

  2. brian miller says:

    powerful little verse…i like the visual of the sand…of that time slipping away….and to find that it was all a illusion of disillusion…sad.

  3. Laurie Kolp says:

    So sad and empacting. Too many make promises they just can’t keep.

  4. Mary says:

    Whew, this is very vivid. I also love the style of your poem.

  5. Dangling but out of reach – the frustration is palpable, but never gets the best of the poem. Instead you stay strong. Nice.

    down]…. wonderful…love how you played with the layout here to make your point…

  7. FeatherMoon says:

    I’m left with many emotions but stirred by the whisper of truth when words disappear. Beautiful ~

  8. Beth Winter says:

    I feel the magic of newfound possibility and then the disappearance of self as the stronger personality controls the relationship, the smothering, the drowning. It is sad. Well written.
