Wolf Within
it was a dream?
encompassed by evergreens,
pine cones scratching up my barefeet,
twigs, rocks cutting at my toes –
run faster from the man!
man in the sky,
unraveling native tongue,
i did not know –
or did I?
chants and haunts cocooned,
branches choked, grabbed,
narled up my cheeks –
run faster!
my back heated;
IT was close behind,
nipping at my heels,
Man in the sky, spoke
wisdom in chants; foreign tongue –
of Water, Earth, and Sky
paws jumped my shoulders,
claws ripped my flesh!
I wrestled
conjoined in somersaults,
pulling hairs, tearing fur,
teeth and fangs dug DEEP
the voice of the SKY,
my Native Tongue –
linguistically uncoiled,
The wolf is you.
locking eyes –
nose to nose
mirrored self-portrait
I descended
gulped down by my own hand,
self-induced devouring –
the SKY opened wide
gleaming a white wolf;
as i cradled my new found Peace
