Beguiling Self 

if the Winter’s breath,
could cool the burn of a blazen heart,
would it blister and bubble?
or should it crackle in a frigid heat?
i dare not ask,
i shall not speak,
for it might awaken the Iceberg;
the protruding dagger,
it lies hidden –
under a protective magnifier,
and all the World sees
