Deviance Toward Punctuation

Deviance Toward Punctuation

stickler for correctness,
jabbing at my eyes,
scratching at my ears,
and I do; try to defy!

brushing, stroking letters —
ending with a dash;
I will to, use you semi-colon,
coma, hyphen, ellipsis. [period]

mark your strict rules,
as broken;
do please, quote these words,
“I am unruly, unmoved, and tired of your ridicule.”

pun(k)tuation with your systematic games,
playing with my head —
a head who loves your strategic,
masterful, wonderful plans.

do not slash me left/right,
marking up my writings,
day/night —
apostrophe here, a colon there,
sending me into such a syntax affair.

I will not bend to you –
no I shall not!
my words will form rebellious tagmemics,
disobeying your language plots.[exclamation point]

    oooh… ..how intriguing – your creature-poem… Would almost be ‘tempted’ to take him home with me… but might he not be ‘tempted’ to bite me with an exclamation mark, or only wish to yap at my heels in that boisterous upper-case fashion?

    • poetjena, you have tempted my poem greatly… however, he has turned on me and found you quite intriguing! using lowercase musings to mess with me once again {!} i do believe I need a band aid for this wound. hee hee
