Head bowed once again,
frailty of a lingering faith,
wind pierced by my ear,
a soft voice speaking.
Be still and listen,
a caution before you pray.
If you ask for love,
your heart will be broken.
For you cannot know true love,
until you have lost it.
Words crashed pounding stones,
beating against my frame,
wheezing with gasps of breath,
reality striking me.
“NO!!” spewed off my lips,
heaving back and forth,
“What cruelty lay upon us as a people?”
I half-heartily waited for the answer.
Crumbling to the ground,
a warm soothing breath,
brushed against my face,
the voice spoke out deep into my flesh.
If you ask for patience,
you will be challenged.
For you cannot learn,
without long-suffering.
Their words ripped at my heart,
as the color of my face fell pale,
I sank.
“How could this be?”
“What good is my suffering?”
Surrounded by a comforting hold,
an echo rang through my core.
Eyes alert,
settling upon the safe shadow.
If you ask for riches,
you will lose all you own.
For you cannot know riches,
until you know what is priceless.
Panting and dreading,
while looking around,
my heart escaped,
I fell head in hand.
“It cannot be!”
Vocals came rising,
within my soul,
this diabolic plan to ruin me.
Gentle rain poured on my face,
fears fell with the drops.
Clinging tightly to erroneous petitions,
slowly loosed from my grasp.
The dreams that once held all of my hold,
no longer were my goal.
Seeking to feel and know what was real,
the angel guided me down my path.
Painful, but worth it.
Changed true to form.
Laughter genuine,
all things fought hard for.
Gripping closely to my bruised,
and broken heart.
Thoughts of afraid let go,
suffering no longer destruction, but growth.
The angel vanished as quickly as they came,
ether of breath formed words,
sealed into my bones,
written on my dangling flesh,
and scars in discolored form.
Life is worth suffering,
things are worth giving,
love is always worth feeling –
even when it hurts.
That was fantastic!

So wonderfully composed Angel– I can only say I am aligned with all you express here (so eloquently) — to feel, is to live! xo
Robyn Thank you! It makes life have great sparks of hope when we can dance on these types of expressive waves together! I thought of your ocean picture just now as I wrote “expressive waves” from your “Vision Quest.” A beautiful image with the magnifying glass. It is a stunning shot! Oh, and all those healing waves soothing the sand makes me smile. π
Absolutely stunning!
