Between the dusk and dawn the silence stirred in trees
Wind rushed by a swoosh sound made
Nothing could I see
Walking under the midnight lake
Moon cloud cloaking my bones
Shadows whisking in the air
With the last my form froze
Skeleton shaking
Eyes stuck to the sight
Shock and excitement dwindled in my mode
Slowly reaching out my hand to touch the glorious soul
Whoo Whoo
Striking eyes sticking into my flesh
I dare not touch, but oh so close
He sat perched straight and grand
My words flew as his silence rang
I waited for his clue
Nothing to sing no prey to catch
He stood just watching me
I — his specimen
Examined from head to toe
Keeping eyes glued
He and me too
We sat in quiet stretch
His feathers perfectly flat
My hair blowing in the wind
I stared at his
He glared at mine
We looked into each other again
Finally I spoke
“Tell me watchful owl, what is your purpose with me?”
He turned his head quickly then back again,
as to not let his eyes off me
A tilt to the left
A tilt to the right
Back into my face
No words did he speak
I said I understood
Left it at that
We stared for sometime
He into me
I into him
As the moon fashioned our silhouettes
For most of the night admiring each other
While studying as well
Haste came and flashed us both
He took off in silence
I watched his magnificent flight
Feathers tightly clasped
Tears filled my eyes
I thought it would be my last sight of him
Pleasantly surprised to see with my eyes
This watchful owl over me
With great delight
I feel his sight upon my walking body

Even ones of dissimilar feathers ..

🙂 hooty hoot! I saw a red-tail hawk a couple of days ago across the street in the tree. I tried to get a picture; I got the back of it, but it flew off too quickly. It was magnificent.
