There I was transfixed in my world,
minding my business, happy little girl.
Skipping and hopping in the bright sunlight,
flapping my hands, like birds in flight.
Off I went jumping, frolicking so,
barefoot and running, no place to go.
Smiling and giggling along with the trees,
staring in awe at the bumble bees.
Gazing in gaiety, up in the air,
free and peaceful without a care.
Looking to the ripples of water below,
smile got smaller, little sadness did show.
I did a spin with a leap and twirl,
the birds heard my laughter, still a little girl.
Joy and sorrow mixed in my soul,
bringing me balance, making me whole.
Heard a noise, What did I see?
You looking back, you caught me!
