Be Gentle

Oh, world be gentle today,
I am giving you my heart freely.
Don’t despise what you see,
or pick it apart so wickedly.

I can take all the jabs,
the beatings with a bruise,
but please let me have today,
where you love my muse.

I have been hard and cold,
yet continue to give,
so please world cast down your throws,
we’ll work through this sieve.

I chose to leap and dance about,
sharing all of me,
so this time let’s just love,
letting each other be.

Waving, whimpering in the cast,
pulling down all our masks.
Able to set it so free,
All the anguish we could not see.

So my world today I say,
let our laughter flow,
in this peace and lavishness,
letting our willingness grow.

Do not be cruel oh, my world,
just let me glow,
as I flip and flout about,
giving my heart ever so.
